About the EUR/USD exchange rate

USD/EUR is the most traded currency pair on the planet, accounting for roughly a quarter of all daily FX volume. The rate is effectively the market’s scoreboard for US versus eurozone monetary policy: when the Fed’s rates rise relative to the ECB’s, the dollar typically gains on the euro, and vice versa. The pair briefly reached parity (1 USD = 1 EUR) in 2022 for the first time in two decades.

Euro (EUR)

European Central Bank (ECB) 20 eurozone countries including Germany, France, Italy, Spain, and the Netherlands

The Euro is the official currency of 20 European Union countries and the second-most traded currency in the world. Introduced in 1999 (cash from 2002), it replaced national currencies like the Deutsche Mark and French Franc. Its value reflects eurozone-wide inflation, ECB rate decisions, and the economic health of its largest members — Germany in particular.

US Dollar (USD)

Federal Reserve (the Fed) United States, Ecuador, El Salvador, Panama, and several Caribbean and Pacific territories

The US Dollar is the world’s primary reserve currency and is on one side of nearly 90% of all foreign-exchange trades. Commodities such as oil and gold are priced in dollars globally, so USD moves ripple through almost every other currency. Its value is driven largely by US Federal Reserve interest-rate policy, US employment and inflation data, and global demand for safe-haven assets.

What is the current EUR to USD exchange rate?
The live mid-market rate is shown at the top of this page and refreshes on every visit.
Is this the rate I will get from my bank or transfer service?
Not exactly. This page shows the mid-market rate — the midpoint between global buy and sell prices, and the fairest benchmark available. Banks and money-transfer services add a margin (typically 0.5%–4%) on top, plus possible fixed fees. Use the mid-market rate here to judge how good an offered EUR→USD rate really is.
How often is the EUR/USD rate updated?
Rates come from an open exchange-rate feed that updates daily, sourced from central-bank and market data. Euro rates are influenced by the European Central Bank (ECB), and US Dollar rates by the Federal Reserve (the Fed). For high-volatility pairs, always re-check just before you transact.
Is my conversion data private?
Yes. The amount you type never leaves your browser — only the public rate table for EUR is fetched over the network. No sign-up, no cookies required for the calculation, no limits.
